1950 India Street is an under review 26 story building in Downtown San Diego's Little Italy district. The project, should it come to fruition, would involve the demolition of an existing abandoned Alsco Uniforms warehouse, replacing it with 444 residential units.
Per the City of San Diego's public permit records, as of June 2026 (about a year after first submittal), the permit process is continuing to progress. 15/16 of the city's review divisions have approved on the project, with the remaining one being Engineering Building Review, which submitted corrections to the architect as recently as 06/02/2026.
The 33,752 sf of retail in the building is notable, as this, combined with analyzing the only publicly available rendering of the project, would suggest that 1950 India has designed two stories of retail shell space within it. This could potentially signify a future retail anchor tenant for the northern Little Italy area, much like downtown's The Torrey has done with their under construction Whole Foods.
