A 90-unit housing project in Bankers Hill is currently under construction.
The developer is Greenline Development, a developer formerly based in New York that has moved its headquarters to San Diego in 2024 after recognizing it as a market with ripe potential for multifamily housing.
The site has an interesting history. It was originally taken up by an L-shaped medical office building completed in 1934 by well-known “Streamline Moderne” architect Charles Salyers, shown below. In 2021, the building was marked as historic, but both the buyer and seller of the site filed for a joint appeal to the San Diego City Council, who ruled in their favor that the building was not historic. Apparently, "Almost half the building [was] known to be a new addition, and not built by a master architect.”

At some point after this overturning, the property was sold to Greenline. The existing building was demolished by February 2024, and construction began on the project in earnest in early 2025.
Not much is publicly available on this project or its architect as of this writing. Any future information gathered will be added to this article.
