MTS is currently demolishing and rebuilding Kettner Boulevard between Broadway and B Street in Downtown San Diego. Stated goals of the project are improving access and wayfinding between Santa Fe Depot Station, America Plaza Station, and the Rapid/City bus stops between the two situated on Kettner Boulevard.

This project was first proposed in November 2019. However, after an MTS-hosted September 4, 2020 zoom meeting wherein the above refined option was presented, the project went silent for five years - until 2025, when construction on the project began. While there is no known completion date at this time, and MTS has not updated or announced anything about this project since 2020, continued progress is visible at the construction site.
