The Barrio Logan Integrative Medicine Clinic is currently under construction in of course Barrio Logan. Being built to fill a healthcare gap in the neighborhood which is far large medical centers like UCSD Hillcrest or Paradise Valley Hospital in eastern National City, it is meant for preventive health care services. Focusing on nutrition, exercise, and research on core problems effecting the neighborhood and city at large.

The design of the building has a street frontage with a kitchen and the entrance to the building, to the rear is a parking garage. This kitchen is designed to teach people how to make good and nutritious food; and teach people food safety and preparation to prevent illness or food poisoning. Between the parking garage and building is a open space and plants making the space feel more open and airy.

Above the ground floor will be doctors offices, health clinic, and administration office space. This would become one of their main office spaces hosting offices for admin, grant requests, and operations of their health clinics. The office space will also have the Laura Rodriguez Research Institute, a research and development department developed in partnership with the UCSD per LPA Design Studio.

On the rooftop will be a running track and outdoor space with great views. This building is also being designed to Net Zero emissions, so is being designed for natural airflow and shade. Outdoor shades to keep heat from the sun out and off windows. The design of this building is to feel at scale with the surrounding neighborhood. There are step downs from the parking garage to neighboring properties as it is shorter than the building. The parking garage is covered with terracotta elements to change its look. Green space and trees help create shade on the street. and the roof top is stepped to reduce perceived height.

This project is currently under construction, No completion date has been announced yet but construction is moving along quickly.
