City24 rendering. ([oo-d-a]).
City24 Condo Hotel is a 3-floor 25-unit hotel on the corner of Olive and India Streets in the Middletown neighborhood of San Diego. The hotel replaced a parking lot that was used by a U-Haul dealership.
Developed by Bishop Ventures, built by Murfey Company, and designed by architecture firm [oo-d-a], all of which are locally based companies, City24 has a very interesting design. While there are some maximalist ornamentations, and wood tones are brushed here and there, the building is dominated by its use of concrete, echoing to a brutalist style.
The location is also interesting, situated in the sort of no-man’s-land between Interstate 5 and Bankers Hill. It is exciting to see new development even in transitional areas such as this. The building has first floor covered parking, and also rentable event space.
