The Torrey, known during development as Front and A, is a completed 34-story, 450-unit mixed-use residential tower in Downtown San Diego.

Completed on July 2, 2026, the tower's opening represents a significant milestone in the second phase of redeveloping the three-block Western Region Detention Facility, the first phase of which took the form of West. The third and final phase of development, which would complete the demoltion of the detention facility and build another new building in it's place, has not yet begun, and if in the works plans are not yet public.

Spearheaded by developer Holland Partner Group, The Torrey joins the ranks of many nearby new mixed-use apartment towers in San Diego's northwest downtown area. The Torrey's amenities align closely with these other projects: high-end fixtures, an athletic club, reservable meeting rooms, a dog park, and a 34th floor rooftop pool. The large 9th floor garden outdoor space above the parking podium is notable. The tower also features 19 affordable units.

The tower sports four colorful murals spanning the length of it's 8-story parking podium, designed and painted by an artist team of DABSMYLA, Christopher Konecki, and Carly Ealey.

In addition to its residential offerings, The Torrey also boasts 49,500 square feet of retail space, which was announced in February 2024 to be a Whole Foods grocery store, the well-known chain's first downtown San Diego location. The store will be a massive boon to an area that is for the most part a groceries desert: the store is still under construction as of this writing, although visibly nearing completion.
