Situated across the street from North Park Community Park, a modest but intriguing project is currently under construction at 4015 Idaho Street. Known simply as Idaho 24+2, while the name might sound cryptic, it’s straightforward once decoded: 24 residential units, paired with two commercial or live/work spaces, tucked neatly into the fabric of North Park. Formerly taken up by a single-family home, Idaho 24+2 delivers much needed housing in a way that does not overwhelm nearby neighbors.
The project is designed by Architects Local, a San Diego-based studio whose work spans multi-family housing, single-family homes, and commercial tenant improvements. Their approach emphasizes building partnerships and, more importantly, building communities—a philosophy that feels especially at home here, where neighborhood identity still carries weight.
North Park itself is in the midst of steady change. Large redevelopment projects rise alongside quieter, incremental infill, each contributing to the neighborhood’s evolving rhythm. Idaho 24+2 lands comfortably in between. With 26 total units, it’s substantial enough to matter, yet restrained enough to feel like a neighbor — not a statement piece, but a continuation of the street.
