The Affordable Housing Agreement between the Poway Housing Authority and Wakeland Housing and Development Corporation is slated to deliver the Monte Vista Affordable Housing project. In the last 25 years, Wakeland has built more than eight thousand homes for veterans, families in poverty, and unhoused individuals. Similarly, the Monte Vista project will be aimed towards low- and extremely low-income households. The construction site is located on a previously uninhabited 2-acre plot of land.

This new complex will consist of two, two-story residential buildings supplemented by a 1684 square-feet community building that includes a kitchen, multipurpose room, offices, and laundry rooms. 28 units will be one-bedroom, 16 two-bedroom, 15 three-bedroom, and an extra one-bedroom unit for the property manager, for a total of 60 homes. Based on provided graphics, residents will have access to outdoor open spaces, including barbecue areas and a pickleball court. An underground parking lot will also be built to accommodate resident cars.
Rental prices are to be capped at 59 percent of the median income, in order to make the units more affordable. The project will cost roughly $38 million, and is expected to complete construction by the end of December 2027.
