Pacific Center is a recently opened life science campus located in Sorrento Mesa. The complex, which replaced a smaller office building and vacant lot, features 790,000 square feet of research space. The project is split into three main buildings with an additional amenity center.
The project was spearheaded by Sterling Bay, a Chicago based real estate firm. The architecture, designed to mimic geological stratification, was led by the world renowned firm Gensler. BNBuilders was responsible for construction, which began in 2023.
Building A consists of 309,000 square feet of research space, a theater room, and a vivarium. Building B has 202,000 square feet of research space, a conference center for 125 people, a lounge and a vivarium. Building C, which is yet to begin vertical as of writing, will feature an additional 279,000 square feet of research space, a conference center, lounge, and vivarium. The amenity center will include a fitness center, a chef driven food and beverage program, an event room, a theater room and an outdoor lounge. The campus, designed by Gensler, is LEED Gold certified, and will include rooftop solar and EV Charging stations. Despite buildings A, B, and the market hall being open, it is unclear whether any life science tenants have yet to sign a lease at this massive development.
